Fic: Losing to Win, PG-13
Title: Losing to Win

Author: gertinator

Words: 2851

Spoilers: None - AU... In my head, it's the AU of Veronica's before-graduation dream (set before the time in the dream) but really all you need to know is Lilly is alive, she and Logan are not together, and Veronica is still the same sweet V of old. (No rape, etc.)

Summary: Lilly wins a bet with Logan and he must pay up.

Author's Notes: Totally a crack!fic. I just got this in my head and couldn't let it go. I didn't know what to do with it, then decided it was perfect pants_a_thon material. Cross posted to veronicamarsfic Pretty fluffy, not much smut. Sorry. I wanted to put in more smut, really... but you'll just have to imagine what happens later.

"You lose and you lose big, Logan!" taunted Lilly, pumping her arm in the air in a victory cheer.

"It was just a stupid bet." Logan sounded bored, jaded. He had only taken the bet to pass the time while Vanderson droned on in Philosophy. "What's the dare this time, Lilly?"

"You have to meet me tonight at Java the Hut," she began, raising her eyebrows and grinning wildly.

"That's not so bad..." Logan was suspicious. This was starting to feel like one of Lilly's set-ups. Dares were usually paid off immediately, not held until later.

"And sing a karaoke song," she finished triumphantly.

Aha. "No way. It's not worth that."

"You have to. Remember last weekend? Dick's party, when you passed out? I may have posed you for a few pictures..." She laughed, and it sent chills down his spine. If she had been planning this for that long, it was sure to be deadly. "You renege on the bet, those pictures go on the net." Lilly sing-songed her rhyme, taunting him with a reckless grin.

She'd do it, for sure. And god only knows who Logan had been posed with or what they had been doing. Shit. "Okay, I have to karaoke." He rolled his eyes.

"The song I pick." She smirked.

"Wait a minute," protested Logan. "No way am I doing any Micheal Bolton or Journey or crap like that. I have my standards."

"It's the song I pick..." Lilly's whole face was lit with evil glee. "...and you have to sing it to Veronica."

Logan felt like he was falling, looking at Lilly through a haze. Did she know? Did Lilly know that Logan wanted Veronica? He had always wanted Veronica a little, even when he was with Lilly and Veronica was with Duncan. She was so perfect, so good, with that sparkle of defiance and humor hiding just underneath. He pushed it down when he was with Lilly, but now, now Veronica was all he could think about. For god's sake, he had dreams about her. Dreams of touching every inch of her pale skin, of kissing every freckle, learning every curve. Dreams of holding her naked body under him, of thrusting into her and making those perfect pink lips scream his name in unbearable pleasure. Fucking wet dreams, like he had just fucking hit puberty.

It was embarrassing. He had tried to keep it a secret. He told himself it was because it wasn't right for him to want his ex's best friend and it sure as hell wasn't right for him to want his best friend's ex. But mostly, deep down, he worried that he wasn't good enough for Veronica and she'd reject him. Lilly had just exposed his deepest desire and worst fear.

"You want me to sing to Veronica? Are you crazy? Have you told her?" Logan was frantic. Lilly knew, he could tell by her look. And there was no way he was going to escape this humiliation. Lilly always got what she wanted in the end. He just had to trust that deep down Lilly still loved him a little, and she loved Veronica a lot, and even though she liked mischief, she wasn't looking to cause pain.

Lilly just smiled, with that twinkle in her eye that said, "Hold on for the ride of your life." "Trust me, it'll be perfect."

"Okay, Lilly. But if you pick a shitty song, you can post all the pictures you want of my bare ass in compromising positions, but I am walking away. I don't care if it looks like I am going down on Dick..."

"Damn. I wish I would have thought of that. It would've been hot. Even if it was just for my own collection." Lilly grinned and took his arm. "You have no faith in me, Logan. Now about what you'll be wearing..."

Logan had given in to the inevitable, but at those words he stopped in horror. "What are you going to make me wear???" His stomach sank at the possibilities Lilly's twisted and depraved mind would come up with.

"Trust me, you'll look totally fabulous..."

Veronica sat at the table, sipping her frappuccino. "Why did I have to get all dressed up to go to Java the Hut?" Veronica looked around suspiciously. "And why did you make me wear this dress? You hate this dress." She narrowed her eyes at her best friend. "What are you planning, Lilly Kane? I don't trust you for a minute." She nervously smoothed the skirt on her virginal white sundress.

Lilly's eyes twinkled, and her voice was husky. "You are a smart girl, Veronica Mars. You shouldn't trust me. But you'll like this, I promise." She licked her lips in anticipation.

Logan entered just then, looking a little lost and uncertain. He had his hand in his hair, messing up the already tousled locks. "Is that Logan?" Veronica asked, eyes wide. "In leather pants?" She couldn't take her eyes off of him.

Lilly licked her lips again, and her eyes glowed with an evil light. "Oh, yes. The silly boy was stupid enough to make a bet with me and lose and now he has to pay up."

Veronica's mouth hung open. "Lilly?! What have you done?" She was shocked at Lilly's antics, but couldn't help but admire the view.

Lilly petted Veronica's shoulder reassuringly. "A little lying, a little cheating... oh, and some blackmail." She giggled. "It was so worth it. Look at his ass! It was made for leather."

"But Lilly, I thought you didn't want him anymore..." Veronica tried to hide her disapproval at the way Lilly toyed with Logan. She would never reveal her own crush on the boy, or how it frustrated her that Lilly didn't seem to want him, but also wouldn't quite let him go.

"Oh, I've moved on. This show isn't for my benefit " Lilly assured her with a breezy laugh. "Think of it as a gift to the women of Neptune. Including you, Veronica Mars." Lilly nudged her friend and wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

A gift to the women of Neptune, indeed. Veronica was entranced by the way the soft black leather cupped the round cheeks of Logan's ass. She had always thought Logan was hot, but this... this was amazing. He had that edgy quality anyway, a bad boy even in a t-shirt and a pair of board shorts. But in the leather pants and tight black t-shirt, shell necklace, mussed hair - he looked dangerous, wicked... delicious. Veronica wanted to taste just how delicious he could be. The lascivious nature of her thoughts shocked her a little, as she imagined stroking the soft leather and then peeling it off of Logan...

He seemed to feel her stare and glanced over. Their eyes caught. A lightening bolt went straight to her panties and sizzled in the wetness it found there. Logan's look was almost shy for a second and then it burned through her as he slowly grinned his trademark cocky smirk. Veronica could not tear her eyes away from him. This was Logan, but not the Logan she knew. What had Lilly done?

Logan finally turned to speak to the karaoke mc and Veronica felt as if an important piece of her had been physically ripped away. She stared at his back and her eyes clung to the curve of his ass in the black leather. She wondered if it was as soft as it looked. God, she just wanted to reach out and stroke it...

Veronica was startled out of her trance by a punch to her arm. "You're drooling, Mars, " giggled Lilly knowingly. "Though he is totally worth it. It's too bad we are so much alike that we drive each other crazy..." She seemed to be assessing Veronica, "Now the two of you..."

"Next up, Logan Echolls," announced the mc, interrupting.

Veronica looked at Lilly questioningly. "You made him dress up to do karaoke?"

"Oh, better than that. Just you wait, Veronica Mars." Lilly let out a wicked cackle, and Veronica felt a shiver go down her spine. Lilly in this mood was a force to be feared.

Logan took the mic and pinned Veronica with his gaze as the music started. Veronica barely heard it, she was so caught up in the heat crackling between them. As Logan leaned into the mic stand, eyes only for her, the familiar tune penetrated. Suddenly, it made sense - Logan staring at her, the bad boy leather, her prim white sundress... She swung on Lilly, her mouth open in shock. "You set this up! You're making him sing to me!" Veronica felt the blush sweep her face and for a moment, she was livid.

"Don't pretend you don't want it, Veronica Mars. And don't pretend you don't want him. Donut was never enough of a man for a hottie like you, you just gotta let it out. And trust me, Logan wants to help you... Now shhhh. The show's starting." She nudged Veronica, who turned back to the stage as Logan's voice rang out.

Come out Virginia, don't let me wait
You Catholic girls start much too late
aw But sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one

Logan's eyes were totally on Veronica and she thought she'd die of embarrassment. She knew her face was bright red, and she hid it in her hands for a minute. She couldn't stand it, though. She had to see him, see his face, know what he was thinking. She peeked out. He locked eyes with her again, and his expression was questioning, shy. Veronica knew Lilly had put him up to this and she wondered now what Lilly held over him. This was more than a bet, more than a dare. Could he possibly have an interest in her? God, she hoped so.

Well, they showed you a statue, told you to pray
They built you a temple and locked you away
But they never told you the price that you pay
For things that you might have done.....
Only the good die young
thats what I said
only the good die young
only the good die young

Logan sounded great. The song, the leather, suited him somehow and it was clear performance was in his blood as he worked the stage with kind of a 50's do-wop vibe. The soft black skin of the pants gripped him as nicely in front as it did in back, and his occasional pelvic thrusts only served to further display his assets. He was one hell of a well built man. Veronica unconsciously moaned a little.

Logan still had eyes only for her and the crowd was starting to notice. He seemed to be asking her permission for something, and she nodded almost imperceptibly. In that moment, he seemed to ignite. He pulled the cordless mic from the stand and jumped off the stage, striding over to her.

You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd
We ain't too pretty we ain't too proud
We might be laughing a bit too loud
aw But that never hurt no one

He was only inches away from her, his eyes twinkling. Dear god, she could barely hear him over the pounding of her heart, which seemed to have gone into a total overdrive. This may have been a set-up by Lilly, but Logan was clearly not doing it for Lilly anymore. Only two people existed in this universe and it was all Logan and Veronica.

So come on Virginia show me a sign
Send up a signal I'll throw you the line
The stained-glass curtain you're hiding behind
Never lets in the sun
Darlin' only the good die young

Logan ran a hand down her cheek, then tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. He quirked his eyebrow at her questioningly and she gave him a million watt smile. That seemed to reassure him. He renewed his singing with vigor.

I tell ya
only the good die young
only the good die young

The crowd was going crazy, but Veronica barely heard them. Logan grabbed her hand and pulled her up so she was standing, then sang down to her. The hand that didn't hold the mic was gently exploring her face, tracing her cheek, brushing her lips with his fingers.

You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation
You got a brand new soul
mmmm, and a cross of gold
But Virginia they didn't give you quite enough information
You didn't count on me
When you were counting on your rosary
oh woah woah

He spun her in a swing dance twirl, then pulled her to him so her back landed against his chest. He sang softly into her ear, arm still around her waist, holding her to him. Her body burned where it touched his. His voice was husky with desire as he continued.

They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun...

His lips barely touched her cheek, and she practically cried out from the sensation. Her eyes met his briefly and she could see he was also a little shocked by the electricity between them. Always the consummate performer, he poured the energy back into the song, though his eyes promised that he would not forget the power of in that touch.

you know that only the good die young
oh woah baby
i tell ya
only the good die young,
only the good die young

Logan twirled her in a few more dance steps, never letting go of her hand, never taking his eyes off of her.

You say your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation
Aww She never cared for me
But did she ever say a prayer for me? oh woah woah

This time, when she came out of the twirl, Logan pulled her to him, so that her hands braced against his chest and her bare legs brushed the leather of his pants. He looked down at her, looked deep into her eyes, and deeper inside of her.

Come out come out come out Veronica

Logan ennuciated her name, quirking his eyebrow with a smirk at the revision of the song.

Don't let me wait,
You Catholic girls start much too late
Sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well be the one,
You know that only the good die young

Logan was doing more than singing a song. His eyes asked a million questions and hers answered them with all of the right answers. "You are the one..." She whispered.

There was a whole additional chorus but Logan had stopped singing. His arms held Veronica tightly, but it was really his stare that had her trapped. Their lips were barely inches apart as he leaned down and she unconsciously went to tip toes. As the song faded, their lips touched in an explosion of sparks. The crowd roared their approval but the catcalls and applause were totally lost in the swirl of emotions binding Logan and Veronica together as they shared their first kiss.

Finally, they came up for air, and Veronica remembered where they were. "Oh, my god!" She hid her face, already flushed from the kiss and now beet red, in Logan's chest.

Lilly chose that moment to speak. "Ooh, I have to go... Logan, you'll take Veronica home, right?" She gave them both an impish grin, then skipped over to meet a dangerous looking biker guy by the door. Judging by the way she stuck her tongue down his throat in greeting, she really had "moved on."

Logan's arms tightened around Veronica, and he murmured into her hair. "Wanna get out of here?" Logan chuckled, petting Veronica's hair as she continued to hide her face. "Don't know if I should kill her or send her a present."

Veronica's hands snuck around to grip Logan's ass in the leather and she mumbled into his chest, "I'm definitely sending a present."

Oh yeah...if Veronica gets to grip Logan's ass in leather pants she definitely needs to send Lilly a present!

This is so cool. Perfect song for the occasion, perfect clothing for both, it's happy, horny, silly and lovely. Just the way crack fic should be. It's fun to think Lilly would have moved on and would have nudged Logan in Veronica's direction.
